About Berewood Estate
Berewood Estate is a unique development featuring 2,550 homes spread across 250 acres of stunning green spaces. Designed to blend timeless architecture with the beauty of nature, Berewood offers a unique combination of country living and urban convenience, being located close to commuter routes, coastal areas, and nearby towns.
The estate includes a range of outdoor amenities, such as a nature reserve, allotments, and a skate park. With a nursery, primary school, and plans for a secondary school, Berewood has been crafted to foster long-term sustainability and contribute to the economic prosperity of the surrounding area.
The Problem
Berewood Estate faced a variety of parking challenges due to its size and location. Situated just off a major junction near Portsmouth and adjacent to local amenities, the estate became a hotspot for parking abuse.
This has led to continued parking issues and unwanted late-night visitors. From teenagers going to the skate park at 2am, to chaos for parents and residents at school pick up and drop off times. These recurring issues disrupted traffic flow, strained community relations, and diminished the quality of life for residents.
Our Solution
To address these challenges, Intelli-Park implemented the eCam solution, deploying a network of strategically placed cameras across high-abuse zones within the estate. With a 25-meter range, the cameras were positioned to cover critical areas effectively with minimal equipment.
eCam is the only parking solution on the market capable of effectively addressing this type of parking abuse. This solar-powered solution is designed for quick and seamless installation, making it a highly efficient choice for various sites. Equipped with advanced technology, eCam uses ANPR technology, providing a reliable way to monitor parking behaviour 24/7.
The eCam system enforces rules against overnight traffic in restricted zones, unauthorised parking, and ensures that only approved users access residential parking areas. Since implementation, the system has issued 320 Parking Charge Notices (PCNs) to deter violations.
Implementation
A team of installers and a dedicated account manager met with the client to discuss their needs, and advise where to place the eCams to best suit their parking challenges.
Once this is understood and as is the beauty of eCam, the team quickly set up the network. As there is no power or data needed to these solar-powered cameras, the network was up and running within 48 hours with no disruption to residents.
Resident Experience & Feedback
Resident feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Many have reported noticeable improvements in traffic flow and a significant reduction in unauthorised vehicles. The automated and transparent nature of the system has been particularly well-received, as it eliminates potential conflicts between neighbours and ensures that only legitimate users have access to parking spaces.
This sense of fairness has enhanced the overall community environment, fostering a safer, nicer place to live.
Site Signage
A range of UKPC-branded signage, ensures clear communication of parking guidelines throughout the location.
UKPC operate on all Intelli-Park sites and play a key role in maintaining compliance. These strategically placed signs enhance visibility and awareness, making parking regulations clear and accessible to all visitors.
PCN Revenue Overview
In the last 12 months, the eCam system at Berewood Estate has generated £11,273 in PCN revenue, with notable peaks in May (£2,243) and October (£1,475).
This consistent income stream is being reinvested to enhance the residents’ experience while addressing ongoing parking challenges, demonstrating the system’s financial and operational effectiveness.
